So we bought ourselves a spiffy new treadmill after Yule, and I was so happy to be able to jog and run and do interval training (our previous “treadmill” didn’t even have a motor!)  After all the holiday feasting, I’d decided to really ratchet up my cardio to a higher level, and then we had a huge cold snap about two weeks ago that made outdoor exercise impossible.  So I was using the treadmill pretty heavily and naturally I had to go and hurt myself with it…

About ten days ago I was jogging along and my left hip started to hurt.  I ignored it because when I stopped running, it stopped hurting.  The next day we went out for a long walk in the park, and I was almost stranded there unable to limp home because it hurt so much.  Then I spent last week taking everyone’s advice: Vegging on my ass and popping ibuprofens.  After five days of that tedium I figured I must be healed, right?  So I got back on the treadmill…not to jog, just for a walk…and it started hurting again.  Auuuugh!!  BW thinks the mill may be off balance on the side that keeps hurting.

Anyway, the point is:  I hate being a cripple!  I am a very active person.  Walking is my primary mode of transport.  I usually do about an hour of exercise a day, because that’s all that keeps me from being Rosie O’ Donnell.   I am constitutionally incapable of just sitting around doing nothing!  This week has been so frustrating…it’s screwing with me physically and psychologically.

The good news is, I think I turned a corner on this thing on Sunday.  It was acting up, but Monday I was walking around with no problems and I was even able to go on my and BW’s usual walk circuit (albeit very sloowwwllllly) without pain.  What made the difference?  Oddly enough, just a big whopping dose of BenGay.  Who knew?  I guess a million old people can’t be wrong.  Keep your fingers crossed for me.
