A Tasty Survey

Alright, now this is a survey (stolen from LOUP) that I really enjoyed answering….coz’ it’s all about food! And I love to talk about food! Let’s hear it for food, ladies and gentlemen!

—————————————-

How do you like your eggs?
Only way I like eggs is hard-boiled then made into egg salad. Otherwise…ACK! Like eating cooked snot! I hate eggs!

How do you take your coffee/tea:
Coffee…iced, black, with Splenda. Or else I want something esspresso-y.

Favorite breakfast foods:
Oatmeal, something with Nutella on it, Amy’s brand black bean breakfast burritos.

Peanut butter: smooth or crunchy?
Smooth. Crunchy pb is the work of the devil!

What kind of dressing on your salad?
Depends what else I’m eating.

Coke or Pepsi?
diet Coke

You’re feeling lazy. What do you make?
Boca burgers.

You’re feeling really lazy. What kind of pizza do you order?
I have a strenuous internal debate about NY style super-thin-crust pizza w/mushrooms VS. “gourmet” pizza with something like artichokes and spinach and feta on it. Then I flip a coin.

You feel like cooking. What do you make?
Ooh boy! A hearty, slow-cooked soup. Or maybe something like chicken breasts stuffed with manchego cheese and chorizo. Or black pepper beef tips over noodles. Or something. Dang, that sounds good.

Do any foods bring back good memories?
Grandma’s bread or Cherryette cookies. “Haystacks.” Fresh blueberries or black raspberries. Pumpkin-flavored things. Lemonade.

Do any foods bring back bad memories?
McDonald’s hamburgers.
Traumatizing memories of my dad eating tomatoes after he’d just finished breakfast at Eat n’ Park. AAAGG…how nasty!
Anything from the Eat n’ Park breakfast buffet.

Do any foods remind you of someone?
Fried eggplant…my Uncle Jimmy. Pizzelle cookies…my Aunt Annie. Sugar cookies…my mom. Samosas…Janet. Peanut butter n’ nanner sammiches….The Lord My God. Cheesecake…Loup. Eggrolls…my Aunt Huyen. Hot wings…Whistler. Refried beans…my MiL. Flour tortillas….BW.
Is there a food you refuse to eat?
Anything with a stringy texture. Most shellfish. Rare beef. Sardines. Tomatoes, 90% of the time. Lard. Bland, greasy, no-flavor “American style” food from “family restaurants.” Kill me now.

What was your favorite food as a child?
Fast food hamburgers. Cream of broccoli soup.

Is there a food that you hated as a child but now love?
Not really…I was a big veg-head even as a sprog.

Is there a food that you loved as a child but now hate?
Fast food hamburgers. Sugary cereal. Bologna.
Favorite fruit & vegetable:
Apples. Sugar-snap peas or peppers. Or artichokes…are they a vegetable?

Favorite junk food:
NACHOS! With jalepenos and an extra helping of day-glo orange cheez sauce! Mmmmmmmmmm.

Favorite between meal snack:
yogurt and/or granola

Do you have any weird food habits:
No, I don’t think they’re weird at all. Other people may argue with me. :) I put hot sauce on most everything. I also sometimes like to eat my salad with just straight vinegar on it and nothing else. I believe that both pizza and coffee are best served cold.

You’re on a diet. What food(s) do you fill up on?
I don’t believe in diets, I just try to eat healthy most of the time.

You’re off your diet. Now what would you like?
A big bowl of sour cream. And NACHOS.

How spicy do you order Indian/Thai?
I always order a 9…it always comes back tasting like 1.5. :( Bastards.

Can I get you a drink?
A gimlet. If you then ask me, “vodka or gin?”, I’ll rescind my order because you obviously do NOT know how to make one.

Red wine or white?
Mead.

We only have beer:
McEwans Scotch Ale. Or Wellington Iron Duke Ale. Something dark and ale-ish.

Favorite dessert?
Apple pie!

The perfect nightcap?
Milk n cookies.

  1. LOUP Says:

This year when my aunt comes down I want to bake a lot of my old favorite cookies. I have the recipes but she remembers the unwritten things my great grandmother did. She always omitted a thing or two from the recipe. That sneak!!
