The party’s over

So at Saturday’s party we ended up with 18 adults and 3 toddlers in my house! Good gawds!
The cats were locked up in the guest room for their own mental health, the toddlers were mostly confined to the enclosed back porch and/or their mothers’ laps, and somehow everyone found a place to park.

Overall, everything went well. We had just the right amount of food (thank you, Costco), no major damage to the house, and guests came and went so that none of the weird hostile factions in my family ever bumped into one another. My mother loved the party, and took home some nice gifts.

I enjoyed seeing everyone, but I don’t think I’d do something on that scale again. There were so many people that I didn’t really feel like I spoke to anyone. People would leave before I’d gotten to say two words to them, and I felt kinda bad. I don’t have any of the skills needed to “work a room.”

Anyway, BW and I cleaned up on Saturday night, then spent Sunday recuperating with books, video games, and quiet. Thanks to everyone for coming!

Good thing you only have one mum and thus only 1 retirement party to throw for her. You are lucky your parents weren’t lesbians, then you’d have two mom-retirement parties. Or would you just combine them? Gawd, things get hairy.

A good time was had by all. You survived Hurricane Mo. I think you deserve a T-Shirt for this.
