Who Loves the 90′s??

I taped the first two episodes of VH1′s “I Love the 90′s” Monday, to see if my baby Donal Logue would be one of the commentators again. It doesn’t look like it, and I’m rather glad. Though I’m having some serious Logue-Withdrawl issues, I was not looking forward to watching that series, and now I don’t have to.

Not only is it a stupid show on a practical level — the 90′s were just 4 years ago, for cripes’ sake — but I loathe the 90′s! On a pop cultural level, it was one of the worst decades to ever dawn upon the annals of history. The movies almost universally sucked. George Lucas started on his long crusade to destroy Star Wars. The clothes were drab, dreary, and depressing. And the music!! Ugh! Gack! Auugh! Simply the most awful ever inflicted upon human ears. Ever. The only good things I can think of about the 90′s are the X-Files and The Big Lebowski.

On a world events level, it was even worse. We had to endure the OJ trial, the Princess Died circus, and who can forget the time the Republicans decided to utterly cripple the governance of this country just because chix wanted to give blow jobs to Bill Clinton and not them?

There really isn’t anything funny or charming to say about the 1990′s. It’s a decade that’s best left forgotten.

I was going to argue that there were some good things that happened in the 90s… but after a few minutes of hard thinking followed by a brain-ache I got nuthin’…
