Behold the Power of Cheese

Richard Cheese, that is. Richard is my new musical Diety of the moment. If you’ve never heard of him, his act is basically this: take current alterno-rock/Nu-metal/whiny white boy songs, and transform them into sleek, glistening, funny-as-hell Vegas lounge numbers.

That could easily turn into a gets-old-fast gimmick, but Richard does it so well that his renditions have musical merit apart from just the humour factor. His arrangements of some of those tunes are really exceptional, inventive, and well done. You haven’t lived until you’ve heard Cheese’s cover of Radiohead’s “Creep.”

If you want to check him out, start with his first cd Lounge Against the Machine. It’s available at Apple’s iTunes music store, so you can even listen to the 30-second snippets to get a taste for the genius of Cheese!
